Master 4-H Volunteer Program

Master 4-H Volunteer Program
Volunteers are fundamental to the 4-H program as they serve as advisors, guides, coaches, helpers and mentors. They come in all shapes and forms with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Some volunteers are long-term and other are short-term, yet all are unique. Master 4-H Volunteers are special volunteers who want to grow and give back more in their role as 4-H Volunteers. The Master 4-H Volunteer program provides an opportunity for volunteers who want the opportunity to contribute in a broader way. The Master 4-H Volunteer program strengthens and enhances the 4-H volunteer and the local program.

Exceptional People, Innovative Practices...Kansas 4-H Youth Development believes in supporting the volunteer development system through training and education on the experiential learning model, the critical elements of youth in 4-H learning environments, the ISOTURE model for volunteer development, age appropriate learning experiences, and emerging aspects of youth development.

The strategy to accomplish the goals is to develop, strengthen and support youth development competencies of adult and youth volunteers. The Kansas Association of 4-H Volunteers and K-State Research and Extension 4-H Youth Development in partnership announce the opportunity for past and present Organizational/Community Leaders, Project Leaders or County/District Leaders/Advisor to pursue becoming a Master 4-H Volunteer.

A new opportunity is awaiting the seasoned volunteer who is interested in serving in a key volunteer position for the county or local 4-H program! The Master 4-H Volunteer Program is designed to strengthen and enhance the 4-H volunteer's educational background so that they can be more effective in their volunteer roles in county area and state levels.

In order to become a Master 4-H Volunteer, the individual must be a VIP registered volunteer, attend specialized training and "give back" 40 volunteer hours to the 4-H program within one year of the training. The individual must also be a past or present Organizational Leader, Project Leader or County Leader/Advisor.

A project of the Kansas Association of 4-H Volunteers, the Master 4-H Volunteer Program is coordinated by Linda Henningsen, Central Kansas District, Salina. Contact your local Extension Office for more details regarding the upcoming training sessions, registration forms and ways in which you could serve as a Master 4-H Volunteer.
